The Vibrant Village/TPRF borehole provides water to Ebagueye villagers, 12 neighboring communities, more distant communities in the dry season, and traveling nomads. Ebagueye, populated primarily by the Inadan (artisan) and Taklit (former slave) Tuareg casts, as well as a smaller group of Fulani, did not have easy or reliable access to water sources prior to Amman Imman's installation of the borehole. The community had to travel at least 5 km to reach a marsh well, 7 km to the nearest deep well, or 15 km to fetch water from the borehole in Abalak. Since January 2012, 30,000 people and animals have a clean and sustainable source of water available throughout the year. In addition to constructing the borehole and training the management committee, Amman Imman donated 20 mango and shade trees which the villagers planted (and have since purchased 40 additional trees to begin reforesting the community). During the 2012 dry season, the Ebagueye borehole has provided life-saving relief to hundreds of herders and their animals fleeing the conflict in Mali, as well as other more distant communities throughout the Azawak. Having suffered from severe water shortages, residents of the town of Abalak have also relied on the borehole in Ebagueye to meet their water needs.
